Exodus 12:1-7, 13-14

"And Yahweh spake unto Moses and Aaron in the land of Egypt, saying,

"This month [shall be] unto you the beginning of months: it [shall be] the first month of the year to you.

"Speak ye unto all the congregation of Israel, saying, In the tenth [day] of this month they shall take to them every man a lamb, according to the house of [their] fathers, a lamb for an house:

"And if the household be too little for the lamb, let him and his neighbour next unto his house take [it] according to the number of the souls; every man according to his eating shall make your count for the lamb.

"Your lamb shall be without blemish, a male of the first year: ye shall take [it] out from the sheep, or from the goats:

"And ye shall keep it up until the fourteenth day of the same month: and the whole assembly of the congregation of Israel shall kill it in the evening.

"And they shall take of the blood, and strike [it] on the two side posts and on the upper door post of the houses, wherein they shall eat it...

"And the blood shall be to you for a token upon the houses where ye [are]: and when I see the blood, I will pass over you, and the plague shall not be upon you to destroy [you], when I smite the land of Egypt.

"And this day shall be unto you for a memorial; and ye shall keep it a feast to Yahweh throughout your generations; ye shall keep it a feast by an ordinance for ever."

AND GOD SPAKE ALL THESE WORDS, SAYING,

  • I [am] Yahweh thy God, which have brought thee out of the land of Egypt, out of the house of bondage,
  • Thou shalt have no other gods before Me.
  • Thou shalt not make unto thee any graven image, or any likeness [of any thing] that [is] in heaven above, or that [is] in the earth beneath, or that [is] in the water under the earth:
  • Thou shalt not bow down thyself to them, nor serve them: for I Yahweh thy God [am] a jealous God, visiting the iniquity of the fathers upon the children unto the third and fourth [generation] of them that hate Me;
  • And shewing mercy unto thousands of them that love Me, and keep My commandments.
  • Thou shalt not consider the name of Yahweh thy God to be a vain thing: for Yahweh will not hold him guiltless that considers His name meaningless.
  • Remember the Sabbath day, to keep it holy.
  • Six days shalt thou labour, and do all thy work:
  • But the seventh day [is] the Sabbath of Yahweh thy God: [in it] thou shalt not do any work, thou, nor thy son, nor thy daughter, thy manservant, nor thy maidservant, nor thy cattle, nor thy stranger that [is] within thy gates:
  • For [in] six days Yahweh made heaven and earth, the sea, and all that in them [is], and rested the seventh day: wherefore Yahweh blessed the Sabbath day, and hallowed it.
  • Honour thy father and thy mother: that thy days may be long upon the land which Yahweh thy God giveth thee.
  • Thou shalt not kill.
  • Thou shalt not commit adultery.
  • Thou shalt not steal.
  • Thou shalt not bear false witness against thy neighbour.
  • Thou shalt not covet thy neighbour's house, thou shalt not covet thy neighbour's wife, nor his ox, nor his ass, nor any thing that [is] thy neighbour's.

Rev. 21:1 - The End of Prophecy?

In Rev. 20, Scripture reveals a Millennial rule after Yahshua’s return, with those found worthy to be part of the first resurrection reigning as kings and priests with Yahshua the Messiah, while Satan is held bound in a bottomless pit. At the end of the 1,000 years, Satan is released to deceive the nations - whose number is “as the sand of the sea” - and bring them to war against “the beloved city”, where they are devoured by fire from God.  After Satan is cast into the lake of fire and brimstone we see a second resurrection to judgement, where not only are “whosoever was not found written in the book of life” cast into the lake of fire, but also death and the grave are cast in as well.

Chapter 21 begins with these words:

“And I saw a new heaven and a new earth: for the first heaven and the first earth were passed away; and there was no more sea.”

Rev. 21:2 through the end of chapter 22 gives us a detailed description of New Jerusalem, which has “[come] down from God out of heaven, prepared as a bride adorned for her husband.”  For the purpose of this article, our particular focus is on the following passages:

21:3 – “And I heard a great voice out of heaven saying, Behold, the tabernacle of God [is] with mankind, and He will dwell with them, and they shall be His people, and God Himself shall be with them, [and be] their God.”

21:8 – “…the fearful, and unbelieving, and the abominable, and murderers, and whoremongers, and sorcerers, and idolaters, and all liars, shall have their part in the lake which burneth with fire and brimstone: which is the second death.”

21:22 – “And I saw no temple therein: for the Lord God Almighty and the Lamb are the temple of it.”

22:1-2 – “And he shewed me a river of water of life, clear as crystal, proceeding out of the throne of God and of the Lamb. In the midst of the street of it, and on either side of the river, [was there] the tree of life, which bare twelve [manner of] fruits, [and] yielded her fruit every month: and the leaves of the tree [were] for the healing of the nations.”

22:14-15 – “Blessed [are] they that do His commandments, that they may have right to the tree of life, and may enter in through the gates into the city. Without [are] dogs, and sorcerers, and whoremongers, and murderers, and idolaters, and whosoever loveth and maketh a lie.”

To set the foundation for our first point, we must look to the prophet Ezekiel, beginning in ch. 39:17-19, where Ezekiel sets the stage with wording that corresponds to John’s words in Rev. 19:17-18:

And, thou son of man, thus saith the Lord Yahweh; Speak unto every feathered fowl, and to every beast of the field, Assemble yourselves, and come; gather yourselves on every side to My sacrifice that I do sacrifice for you, [even] a great sacrifice upon the mountains of Israel, that ye may eat flesh, and drink blood.

“Ye shall eat the flesh of the mighty, and drink the blood of the princes of the earth, of rams, of lambs, and of goats, of bullocks, all of them fatlings of Bashan.

“And ye shall eat fat till ye be full, and drink blood till ye be drunken, of My sacrifice which I have sacrificed for you.”

If these passages are indeed describing the same event, just after Yahshua’s return, then we can look further to see if this similarity continues.  Beginning in chapter 40, Ezekiel goes on to describe in detail a temple and the surrounding area, aspects of worship, and in chapter 47:1-2 and 7-12 a description of waters flowing from the temple:

“Afterward he brought me again unto the door of the house; and, behold, waters issued out from under the threshold of the house eastward: for the forefront of the house [stood toward] the east, and the waters came down from under from the right side of the house, at the south [side] of the altar.

“Then brought he me out of the way of the gate northward, and led me about the way without unto the utter gate by the way that looketh eastward; and, behold, there ran out waters on the right side…

“Now when I had returned, behold, at the bank of the river [were] very many trees on the one side and on the other.

“Then said he unto me, These waters issue out toward the east country, and go down into the desert, and go into the sea: [which being] brought forth into the sea, the waters shall be healed.

“And it shall come to pass, [that] every thing that liveth, which moveth, whithersoever the rivers shall come, shall live: and there shall be a very great multitude of fish, because these waters shall come thither: for they shall be healed; and every thing shall live whither the river cometh.

“And it shall come to pass, [that] the fishers shall stand upon it from Engedi even unto Eneglaim; they shall be a [place] to spread forth nets; their fish shall be according to their kinds, as the fish of the great sea, exceeding many.

“But the miry places thereof and the marishes thereof shall not be healed; they shall be given to salt.

“And by the river upon the bank thereof, on this side and on that side, shall grow all trees for meat, whose leaf shall not fade, neither shall the fruit thereof be consumed: it shall bring forth new fruit according to his months, because their waters they issued out of the sanctuary: and the fruit thereof shall be for meat, and the leaf thereof for medicine.”

And finally, Ezekiel 48:35 tells us, “…and the name of the city from [that] day [shall be], Yahweh [is] there.”

Now we must rightly divide the word of God:  Both Ezekiel and John are describing conditions during the Millennium, after Yahshua’s return and while He and the Father are dwelling with mankind; however, Revelation 21:1 has nothing to do with this time frame.  New Jerusalem is not part of the new heavens and the new earth:  The waters of Ezekiel – and by extension, those in Revelation - run to a sea which does not exist in the new earth.  If this is true, then what is happening at the end of Revelation?

The answer is simple:  The first verse of Rev. 21 should actually be the last verse of chapter 20.  Any student of Scripture knows that the chapter, verse, and even sentence divisions are an arbitrary construct introduced for the sake of convenience; a glance at any early manuscript will prove this, as the Greek has no punctuation, paragraph divisions, or spaces between words.  If Rev. 21:1 should actually be 20:16, then we can take the rest of chapter 21 and chapter 22 as “inset chapters”, which back up and describe conditions on earth during the Millennial time of Rev. 20:4-6, before the White Throne judgement, and not existence after the new heaven and new earth are instituted.  In addition to the issue of “no sea”, there are other details which support this idea.

Rev. 21:8 says “…the fearful, and unbelieving, and the abominable, and murderers, and whoremongers, and sorcerers, and idolaters, and all liars, shall have their part in the lake which burneth with fire and brimstone: which is the second death.”  This is describing a time BEFORE God’s judgement.  Proof of this is that outside the city are “…dogs, and sorcerers, and whoremongers, and murderers, and idolaters, and whosoever loveth and maketh a lie” (22:15) - people who are destined to be destroyed in the lake of fire after the Millennium, upon their judgement before the White Throne.

Also, unless we are to take all the details, measurements, and descriptions in both Ezekiel and Revelation as completely symbolic, it is clear that they are describing physical conditions on this earth, not after the coming of a new heavens and earth.  It is our contention that Revelation 21:1 is functionally the end of the prophetic timeline revealed to mankind:  What happens after God introduces the new heavens and new earth is a complete unknown.

Prophecy is not given for foresight, but for hindsight, so that we might recognize when things happen that they are God’s word being fulfilled before our eyes.  With this in mind, we cannot clearly discern every detail of the prophecies in Ezekiel and Revelation:  Ezekiel describes a temple, but it cannot be in New Jerusalem because there is no temple there:  “…the Lord God Almighty and the Lamb are the temple of it.”  New Jerusalem is described as a cube of some 1,500 miles on each side – where is it to rest, if it is a physical thing that rests at all?  Notice that it is described as “descending” and “coming down”, but not coming to rest.

A final caveat:  The mysteries of prophecy are hard to understand, as Isaiah 64:4 tells us: “…since the beginning of the world [men] have not heard, nor perceived by the ear, neither hath the eye seen, O God, beside Thee, [what] He hath prepared for him that waiteth for Him.”  However, as Paul tells us in 1 Cor. 2:10, “…God hath revealed [them] unto us by His Spirit, for the Spirit searcheth all things, yea, the deep things of God.” Revelation shows us things that will be after Yahshua's return, but darkly as through a clouded glass, and subject to interpretation.  While it is interesting to meditate on things to come, we will always face the uncertainty of unfulfilled prophecy.  Our lives should be more intensely focused on the things revealed to us clearly in Scripture:  God's laws, His will for us, the knowledge of Yahshua as our Saviour, and the assurance that God's promises to us will be fulfilled, both now and in the world to come.  Let us strive daily to live our lives in a manner pleasing to our Father, keeping His commandments and the testimony of Yahshua, so as to be worthy to receive these promises when the time comes.  Maranatha.

Exodus 6:3 - A Question of Contradiction

Is the Bible truly non-contradictory, or is it simply a collection of stories made up by mankind as an organized mythology to support their superstitions, heritage, history, etc.?

Our focus for this article is Exodus 6:3, where the KJV reads,

"And I appeared unto Abraham, unto Isaac, and unto Jacob, by [the name of] God Almighty, but by my name Yahweh was I not known to them."

Many translations read, "...I was not known to them" or some variation of that rendering.  The problem is that Abraham, Isaac, and Jacob DID know the name Yahweh, there is no doubt about this:  the patriarchs expressly called upon the name Yahweh repeatedly in Genesis and even named at least one place after Him – see Gen. 12:8, 21:33, 22:14, 26:25, 49:18, among others.  If we accept the common interpretation of Ex. 6:3, it presents a complete contradiction of these passages; however, if we believe that God’s word is non-contradictory, we know there is a better interpretation to be found. Let us seek that better interpretation together.

To begin with, a modicum of research on the internet concerning this verse reveals various weak explanations for this apparent self-contradiction, the two most common being:

1.   That God revealed Himself to the patriarchs as El Shaddai, the Almighty God, but they didn’t “know” or understand Him as Yahweh in His “covenant” manifestation.  This is a subterfuge which flies in the face of the covenants Yahweh made mankind and the patriarchs in Genesis, as well as making a lie of the proven use of His name there, so it must be rejected out of hand.

2.   That the Bible is a “collection of material that the Israelites assembled to try to understand their past…”:  i.e., it is man-made, not God breathed, and therefore subject to errors and contradictions just like any other human writing.

An interesting attitude rears its head when we research this verse:  those who subscribe to the second opinion above use the verse almost gleefully in support of that opinion and their rejection of the non-contradictory nature of Scripture.  There is no real search for a valid explanation of the verse, only mockery of the concept of “inerrancy” and of those who reject contradiction within Scripture.  It’s very apparent that anyone who does not believe the Bible will not seek or offer explanations that resolve a contradiction, mostly because it is a non-issue for them:  they are quite ready to accept contradictions within their “mythology.”

Knowing as we do that our Scriptures are authored by God and not mankind, we must also reject the second “explanation” as well, so let us now look to Scripture itself to find our answer.

Firstly, if we look Exodus 6:3 in context, even going back into chapter 5, we see that Moses is speaking to Yahweh about the children of Israel, and in 6:1 Yahweh says, "...with a strong hand shall he let them go, and with a strong hand shall he drive them out of his land."  Can we not understand the "them" in 6:3 to mean not the patriarchs, but the children of Israel in captivity? This interpretation suggests that the children of Israel in Egypt did not know or use the name Yahweh by the time Moses was sent to lead them out of captivity.  Is this true? Let’s look at three points in support of this idea:

1. When God appears to Moses in chapter 3, He identifies Himself simply as the God of the patriarchs, not by His name.  Moses has to ask what name he should give the children of Israel when he tells them he's been sent by "the God of (their) fathers."  Why?  Why didn’t Yahweh appear to Moses as “Yahweh, the God of your fathers, of Abraham, Isaac, and Jacob”, unless it’s simply because by then the name wasn’t known to the children of Israel in Egypt. Is there support for this interpretation?  As we shall see, there is.

2.  The name Yahweh appears more and more infrequently in Genesis as we get closer to its end. The name 'Yahweh' appears from Genesis 2:4 through Genesis 39:23 some 158 times, an average of more than 4 occurrences per chapter in 38 chapters.  The name appears only once in the remaining eleven chapters from Genesis 40:1 through Genesis 50:26, when it is used in Genesis 49:18 by Jacob. The next occurrence of the name Yahweh is three chapters into the next book, in Exodus 3:2. The first time that name is uttered by a human being in Exodus is in verse 4:1, where it is spoken by Moses, over 400 years after Gen. 49:18. This supports very well the likelihood that the vast majority or even all of Israel had forgotten the name Yahweh by the time He appeared to Moses in the desert.

3. Finally, there are several examples of unclear antecedents and uncertain pronouns in Scripture, interestingly in Ex. 4:21-26, where at first glance it appears that Yahweh sought to kill Moses.  However, it's clear from the context that He meant to kill the uncircumcised firstborn son, not Moses.  Yahweh met him (Moses), and sought to kill him (the firstborn son).  That's why Zipporah circumcised the boy - to save his life.  We also see this cloudy pronoun usage in 2 Kings 19:35:  "And it came to pass that night, that the angel of Yahweh went out, and smote in the camp of the Assyrians an hundred fourscore and five thousand: and when they arose early in the morning, behold, they [were] all dead corpses." They - Judah, they - the Assyrians.

If these things are true, then we can understand Ex. 6:3 to be saying that Yahweh appeared to the patriarchs as the Almighty God, but the children of Israel didn't even know His name; that God actually appeared to and interacted with the patriarchs personally, while the children of Israel in captivity had even forgotten the name Yahweh.  Contradiction resolved.

Finally, a second, even simpler explanation for the apparent contradiction in Ex. 6:3 exists as well; we can read the passage in the following way:

“And God spake unto Moses, and said unto him, I [am] Yahweh:
“And I appeared unto Abraham, unto Isaac, and unto Jacob, as GOD ALMIGHTY;
but by My name YAHWEH was I not known to them?

By simply understanding the last phrase as a question rather than a statement, all contradiction disappears, and this does no violence to the Hebrew.  One Biblical Hebrew professor has advised that “Almost anything in Hebrew (as in English) could be a question if asked in the right tone of voice.”  We see an example of this in Genesis 4:13, where we can hear Cain ask, “Is my iniquity greater than can be forgiven me?”  This subject will be addressed in a related article, but here briefly we see a possible answer to why Cain “got away with murder”, why he was marked and protected after killing Abel:  because his was a question suggesting repentance, rather than a statement voicing complaint.

As we can see, not only is Exodus 6:3 not in contradiction to virtually the entirety of Genesis, it can be understood by either of two renderings that are both perfectly valid interpretations which support Genesis rather than contradict it:  Either Yahweh was reintroducing His name to the children of Israel after their 400+ years in captivity and ignorance, or Yahweh was emphasizing the fact that the patriarchs knew Him both by the title “God Almighty” and also by the name Yahweh.

In closing, let us remain convinced of the truth and non-contradictory nature of God’s word and hold to the faith that there is an answer for every question, if only we are willing to search for it.  Remember that Paul tells us in 2 Tim. 3:16,

“All Scripture [is] given by inspiration of God…”,

and therefore, it cannot lie or contradict itself because

“God [is] not a man, that He should lie.”
(Num. 23:19)

False Dichotomy: The "Lesser of Two Evils"

"False dichotomy:  The fallacy of presenting only two choices, outcomes, or sides to an argument as the only possibilities, when more are available."

Every human being alive is faced daily, even hourly, with choices:  what job to take, what to eat for dinner, what shoes to buy, where to shop, on and on ad infinitum. Most of these choices don't involve morality, good, evil, or faith:  they are simply judgements which we must make for ourselves and our families in order to secure the best existence we can, and the options are basically limitless. A problem can arise, however, when we are faced with decisions that do involve morality, righteousness, sinfulness, or our faith.  Specifically, we may face a dilemma when it appears that there are only two options to choose from and neither seems acceptable.  When this happens - and it seems to happen more and more frequently as time goes on - it appears that many, if not most, people simply accept the situation and are willing to choose "the lesser of two evils."  Perhaps this approach works when choosing between binge eating a quart of ice cream versus a pound of fudge, but as God's people faced with real choices involving true evil in an increasingly sinful world, we must do better.  Let's search Scripture together for God's word on this matter.

To begin with, Scripture clearly presents us with a world and an existence couched in true dichotomies - sets of two things that are opposite or entirely different.  The creation hymn is filled with such opposites:  darkness and light, the waters and dry land, sun and moon, male and female, work and rest.  Later we see good and evil, obedience and rebellion, righteousness and sin, Urim and Thummim, life and death, blessing and curse.  Many of these involve no choice at all, they're simply things that exist, such as day and night, waters and land.  Others do involve choice and there are clear instructions concerning them:  choose life (Deut. 30:19), be obedient (Ex. 19:5), live righteously; that is, according to God's laws and commandments (Lev. 22:31, Hos. 10:12), seek good (Amos 5:14).  Our Creator obviously has no problem with dichotomies existing:  when two things are clearly opposite, it is easy to tell the difference between them, and in moral issues the choice is glaringly obvious.

So what about the "grey areas", the subtle differences, the "lesser of two evils", when it appears that there are only two choices but neither is really good?  What about a situation where there appear to be only two choices but both are obviously bad?  Does God approve of or condone choosing one evil over another?  Does such a thing as a "lesser evil" even exist?

Let's be immediately clear:  The answer is "NO."  The truth is that all evil is evil, there are no gradations, just as all sins are essentially equal because they are all rebellion against God's will. As Ps. 51:4 says, "Against Thee, Thee only, have I sinned, and done [this] evil in Thy sight":  Bearing false witness breaks God's law just as murder does, just as adultery does, just as worshipping idols does, just as not keeping the Sabbath does. Yahweh tells us, "See, I have set before thee this day life and good, and death and evil...therefore choose life" (Deut. 30:15, 19) - which clearly also means not only "choose good", but also "reject evil".  Anyone who subscribes to the idea that God in any way approves of choosing between one evil and another is ultimately advocating for choosing evil.  If true, this idea creates a contradiction in Scripture and in God's own words, but Scripture tells us that "God [is] not a man, that He should lie... (Num. 23:19), and "...I [am] Yahweh, I change not..." (Mal. 3:6).  Our Father tells us to seek good, therefore He would never contradict that instruction and go on to tell us to choose evil for any reason:  to do so would destroy all of Scripture in a single stroke.

Now we come to the concept of a false dichotomy.  As stated above, a false dichotomy involves the fallacy of there being only two choices on some issue when other choices actually exist. In today's world we see this fallacy more and more commonly, especially in the arena of politics, but it is not limited to the area of politics: it pervades every aspect of life more and more as time goes on (mainstream churchianity comes in a close second). However, politics is where it is spread most obviously, and also seems to be most commonly accepted. The world has turned to politicians for salvation despite the fact that politicians and governments the world over are corrupt oppressors who are not interested in any way with saving anyone but themselves.  In the United States, citizens at the moment have been given a choice between two corrupt, deviant, destructive, willfully sinful individuals - a choice, which if accepted, truly would be choosing one of two evils.   The truth is that anyone who believes that choosing evil will save them or their country or gain one iota of God's favor is deceiving him- or herself in the worst way possible.

So if choosing the lesser of two evils is still choosing evil; if we shall not choose evil, but avoid even "the appearance of evil" (1 Thess 5:22); if we seem to only have two choices and both are evil, what do we do?  Remember that this is a false dichotomy.  It is presented as a choice between two evils, but this is a deception:  there is always the option of choosing good.  The first step is to trust in God and not mankind for salvation of any kind.  Obey God's words first and foremost - remember what Peter says in Acts 5:29:  "We ought to obey God rather than people."  The second step is to refrain from comparing two evils and concluding that one is less evil than the other, thereby justifying evil:  think of Proverbs 17:15 - "He that justifieth the wicked, and he that condemneth the just, even they both [are] abomination to Yahweh."  Isa. 5:20 tells us, "Woe unto them that call evil good, and good evil; that put darkness for light, and light for darkness; that put bitter for sweet, and sweet for bitter!" - if we compare evils and choose one as "lesser", we are calling that evil good.  Beware that trap.

Finally, do not lend your hand, your voice, or your money to support evil, "lesser" or otherwise:  if all else fails, abstain from participating in the fallacy altogether.  No one can claim that choosing good is always easy:  that pathway is narrow and strait. Choosing good and rejecting evil, however, is required of God's people.  If you cannot find another course in a situation - no "good" candidate to vote for, no assembly to attend which truly obeys God's words, no righteous person to support in whatever troubles he or she may be suffering - then there is always the option of choosing to obey God and reject evil.  Abstain from all appearance of evil, do all the good that you can, and refuse to validate the fallacy of "lesser evil":  trust that soon your Father will open up a better way.

In closing, consider what comes from accepting the concept of choosing a lesser evil.  You have not chosen good; you have not rejected evil.  In refusing both options, you bring yourself into the sphere of the "middle ground", neither truly good or truly evil, merely tepid.  Hear what God says to us concerning this "choice":

"And unto the angel of the church of the Laodiceans write; These things saith the Amen, the faithful and true Witness, the beginning of the creation of God;
"I know thy works, that thou art neither cold nor hot: I would thou wert cold or hot.
"So then because thou art lukewarm, and neither cold nor hot, I will spue thee out of My mouth."
Revelation 3:14-15

Choose good, and not evil;
Your Life depends on it.

WHAT IS THE MARK OF THE BEAST?

“And he causeth all, small and great, rich and poor, free and bond, to receive a mark upon their right hand, or upon their forehead:
“And that no one might buy or sell, save he that had the mark, the name of the beast, or the number of his name.
“Here is wisdom. Let him that hath understanding count the number of the beast: for it is the number of a person; and his number [is] Six hundred threescore [and] six.”

Revelation 13:16-18

Anyone reading these words immediately asks two obvious questions, “What is the mark of the beast?  What is this deadly mark, how can I resist it?”  Somehow the world has fixated on the number given, 666, and searched for it in vain, everywhere from gematria to highway numbers.  In recent years people have begun to question technology:  Is it a tattoo, a barcode, a microchip, a DNA registry?  Will it be forced on me by a domineering world government bent on driving me into submission and slavery?  How can I know, where is the answer?

As always, the truth is contained within Scripture, and it is there that we must search for the answer.  Let us begin in Revelation itself.

Revelation 13 tell us that in the end times we will see an assortment of figures rising to power:

A beast in 13:1 who rises up, having 7 heads, 10 horns, and 10 crowns, and on his heads “the names of blasphemy”.  One of the heads is wounded unto death, but this wound is healed.

A dragon in 13:4, who is introduced in 12:3, also having 7 heads and 10 horns, but only 7 crowns.  He is worshipped and causes the world to also worship the beast with the deadly head wound.

A second beast in 13:11 who has 2 horns, speaks like a dragon, and exercises the power of the first beast.  He also causes the world to worship the first beast.

Then, in verse 16 we see the mark introduced, given to all types of people, that allows them the power to buy and sell. The mark seems to offer freedom, at least in commerce, and life, for how can we live if we cannot buy or sell?  The fact is that while this mark may seem to offer protection, the exact opposite is true.  Revelation 14:9-11 tells us:

“And the third angel followed them, saying with a loud voice, If any one worship the beast and his image, and receive [his] mark upon his forehead, or upon his hand,
“The same shall drink of the wine of the wrath of God, which is poured out without mixture into the cup of His indignation; and he shall be tormented with fire and brimstone in the presence of the holy angels, and in the presence of the Lamb:
“And the smoke of their torment ascendeth up for ever and ever: and they have no rest day nor night, who worship the beast and his image, and whosoever receiveth the mark of his name.”

To receive this mark is to become the object of God’s wrath and to endure terrible punishment and judgement as a consequence:  The vials of God’s wrath are poured out first upon those who have received the mark, the beginning of a series of terrible plagues:

“And I heard a great voice out of the temple saying to the seen angels, Go your ways, and pour out the vials of the wrath of God upon the earth.
“And the first went forth, and poured out his vial upon the earth; and there fell a noisome and grievous sore upon the men which had the mark of the beast, them which worshipped his image.”
Revelation 16:1-2

The beginning of our answer, then, is that this mark is a deception, designed to draw mankind into destruction.  It is obviously a mark related to religion, because these passages clearly connect God’s wrath with people accepting this mark and worshipping the beast. With this in mind, we can leave behind questions about numbers, for there is no clear answer there.  Our focus must become the phrase in the opening passage - “upon their right hand, or upon their forehead…” What does it mean to have a mark or sign upon one’s hand or forehead?  This is where we allow Scripture to guide us.

The first case of such a reference is found in Exodus 13:

“And it shall be for a token upon thine hand, and for frontlets between thine eyes: for by strength of hand Yahweh brought us forth out of Egypt.”
Exodus 13:16

This is a reference Yahweh’s commandments in Ex. 13:1-15 to Israel to not only keep His memorial of Passover and the Days of Unleavening, but also teaching these memorials to their children.  Obedience to Yahweh’s will in this matter is the “token”, a sign or signal revealed by their actions.  A search for other occurrences of Strong’s #226, rendered “token” here, immediately shows us that Yahweh gave His people many tokens, or signs, from the beginning:

The rainbow in Gen. 9:13, a token of His covenant with mankind that He would never destroy the world again by water

The ritual of circumcision in Gen. 17:11, a token of the covenant made between Him and Abraham to be his and his children’s God and to bring them into Canaan

The promise in Exodus 3:12, the sign to Moses that Yahweh had sent him, that He would bring him back to Mt. Horeb to serve Him after Israel escaped Egypt

The blood of the lamb, the token of exemption from death for all those who obeyed Yahweh’s commands concerning Passover

There are many other examples of Yahweh giving mankind tokens to signal some action or agreement with them.  In the case of Exodus 13:16, however, the token is a sign given by mankind unto Yahweh, a sign of obedience to His will and commandments.  This obedience is spoken of repeatedly as being “upon thine hand, and between thine eyes”:  Ex. 13:9, 16, Deut. 6:8 & 11:18, etc.;  also as in the heart, around the neck, upon the fingers: Prov. 6:21 & 7:3.  The context in these passages clearly tell us that tokens between our eyes and in our hands are both the things we believe in and how we live according to those beliefs. We believe with our minds and hearts, we live this belief through our actions, and God makes it very clear in many passages (Ex. 15:26, Deut. 6 & 11, etc.) that our obedience to His commandments will grant His people protection.

In addition to requiring obedience to His commandments and laws, Yahweh also requires His people to remember and revere His name. Immediately after Yahweh promises Moses proof that He had sent him in Exodus 3:12, He declares His name to Moses, instructing him to proclaim it to the children of Israel and telling him “this is My name forever, to be remembered for all generations.”  Pharaoh was raised up and Israel was brought out of Egypt by Yahweh in order that “My name may be declared throughout all the earth” (Ex. 9:16)  The third commandment reads, “Thou shalt not consider the name of Yahweh thy God to be a vain thing: for Yahweh will not hold him guiltless that considers His name meaningless.” (Ex. 20:7)  Finally, Joel 2:30-32 gives us a clear reference to Revelation, closing with “And it shall come to pass, that whosoever shall call on the name of Yahweh shall be delivered.”

Now returning to Revelation, we realize two things:  1) The deception of the mark of the beast involves the “name of the beast” and 2) this mark is a mockery of the seal of protection given by God to His servants:

Saying, Hurt not the earth, neither the sea, nor the trees, till we have sealed the servants of our God upon their foreheads.”
Rev. 7:3

“And it was commanded them that they should not hurt the grass of the earth, neither any green thing, neither any tree; but those people which have not the seal of God upon their foreheads.”
Rev. 9:4

“And the nations were angry, and Thy wrath is come, and the time of the dead, that they should be judged, and that Thou shouldest give reward unto Thy servants the prophets, and to the saints, and them that fear Thy name, small and great; and shouldest destroy them which destroy the earth.”
Rev. 11:18

“And I looked, and, lo, a Lamb stood on the mount Sion, and with Him an hundred forty [and] four thousand, having His Father's name written upon their foreheads.”
Rev. 14:1

“Here is the patience of the saints, they that keep the commandments of God, and the faith of Yahshua.”
Rev. 14:12

“And they shall see His face; and His name [shall be] upon their foreheads… Blessed [are] they that do His commandments, that they may have right to the tree of life, and may enter in through the gates into the city.”
Rev. 22:4, 14

As God has shown consistently throughout Scripture, He will protect and reward those who obey His commandments, love His law, and worship His name.  He has also promised to punish those who reject His laws and His name, pouring out His wrath upon them for their false worship.  Here we have the answer to our main question:  “What is this deadly mark, how can I resist it?”  This mark of the beast is acceptance of a false name, a false prophet, a false Messiah, worship of anything other than our Creator.  We resist the deception by knowing our Father’s will, by knowing the true names Yahweh and Yahshua, by keeping His commandments, and refusing to accept the offer of man’s “safety” rather than His salvation.

Revelation clearly shows us that there are those who will be saved or condemned by their actions, and that their actions are connected to who and what they obey.  The mark of the beast is a name or a number that people will either accept or reject, it is not a computer chip or tattoo that can be forced upon them.  It may involve new technology, but technology is only the means to an end, not the goal itself, which is apostasy – something as old as mankind itself. The mark of the beast is part of a system of belief that is contrary to Yahweh and His commandments.  It is the mark of deception – for what people would knowingly blaspheme God and the name of God as is done Rev. 16: 9, 11, and 21?  Who would knowingly embrace the destruction promised to those who accept the name of the beast, except those who are deceived about God’s true name in the first place?

Search the Scriptures, for the time is short.  Pray that our Father will open your heart to the truth of His Son’s name, to the truth of His Holy Days and commandments and His Sabbath, to the blessing of obedience to His truth.  It is not enough to reject the lies, we must embrace the truth; protection comes not just from rejecting the beast’s mark, but from having God’s seal in our foreheads.  We are saved by both faith and by acting on that faith. The struggle ahead is not against government or technology, it is against Satan himself.  Now is the time to learn the truth, for the day is coming soon when there will be time no longer.

“And I saw as it were a sea of glass mingled with fire: and them that had gotten the victory over the beast, and over his image, and over the number of his name, stand on the sea of glass, having harps of God.

“And they sing the song of Moses the servant of God, and the song of the Lamb, saying, Great and marvellous [are] Thy works, Lord God Almighty; just and true [are] Thy ways, Thou King of saints.

“Who shall not fear, O Lord, and glorify Thy name? for [Thou] only [art] holy: for all nations shall come and worship before Thee; for Thy judgments are made manifest.”

Rev. 15:2-4

Matthew 10:28

"...Fear not them which kill the body, but are not able to kill the soul: but rather fear him which is able to destroy both soul and body in hell."

My little children, do not follow the spirit of fear in this world.  Do not fear men, the government, threats, or illness.  Do not fear the Beast and his mark, do not fear not being able to buy or sell if you refuse this mark.  All of these things exist or will soon exist, our Father and Yahshua have forewarned us.  These things must come to pass before our King returns.  Put your faith in God and don't worry about what may come to pass:

"Are not two sparrows sold for a farthing? and one of them shall not fall on the ground without your Father.
"But the very hairs of your head are all numbered.
"Fear ye not therefore, ye are of more value than many sparrows."
Matthew 10:29-31

Do you believe that if we righteously refuse to accept the mark of the beast, if we love Yahshua and keep His commandments, if we refuse to worship the Beast, that he will be given any true power over us?  Will not being able to buy or sell, not participating in the beast's government, worship, and economy, mean certain death to Yahshua's people?  Oh ye of little faith!  Remember when the children of Israel were oppressed in Egypt, when Moses and Aaron were proclaiming Yahweh's name and performing His miracles, how Egypt was stricken with plagues while Israel was held safe.  Remember how all Egypt was in darkness while the dwellings of Israel had light.  Remember how the firstborn of Egypt were slain, but the firstborn of Israel were saved  - through faith and obedience.

Do not believe that every one crying "Lord, Lord" will be saved - many people will be crying out to their gods, but there is ONLY ONE NAME UNDER HEAVEN BY WHICH WE MUST BE SAVED.

Joel 2:32 - "And it shall come to pass, [that] whosoever shall call on the name of Yahweh shall be delivered..."

Acts 4:10-12- "Be it known unto you all, and to all the people of Israel, that by the name of Yahshua the Christ of Nazareth, Whom ye crucified, Whom God raised from the dead, [even] by Him doth this man stand here before you whole.
"This is the stone which was set at nought of you builders, which is become the head of the corner.
"Neither is there salvation in any other: for there is none other name under heaven given among people, whereby we must be saved."

"My little children, these things write I unto you, that ye sin not. And if any one sin, we have an advocate with the Father, Yahshua the Christ the righteous:
"And He is the propitiation for our sins: and not for ours only, but also for [the sins of] the whole world.
" And hereby we do know that we know Him, if we keep His commandments.
"He that saith, I know Him, and keepeth not His commandments, is a liar, and the truth is not in him."
1 John 2:1-4

Reject this world's false worship, reject the false names, reject the lies and the fear.  Learn and accept the true name of the Son of God, learn and keep His Sabbath and His commandments, love Him and them with all your heart, all your soul, all your strength.  Trust in our Father and Yahshua to watch over you, accept Their will concerning you - whether it be life or death, protection or martyrdom. "We know that all things work together for good to them that love God, to them who are the called according to [His] purpose." Believe this and you have nothing to fear, no matter what lies ahead.

God's People Will Be Persecuted, NOT Raptured

Daniel 7:24-15 - "And the ten horns out of this kingdom [are] ten kings [that] shall arise: and another shall rise after them; and he shall be diverse from the first, and he shall subdue three kings. And he shall speak [great] words against the Most High, and shall wear out the saints of the Most High, and think to change times and laws: and they shall be given into his hand until a time and times and the dividing of time."

Daniel 11:33-35 - "And they that understand among the people shall instruct many: yet they shall fall by the sword, and by flame, by captivity, and by spoil, [many] days. Now when they shall fall, they shall be holpen with a little help: but many shall cleave to them with flatteries. And [some] of them of understanding shall fall, to try them, and to purge, and to make [them] white, [even] to the time of the end: because [it is] yet for a time appointed."

Matthew 24:9-10 - "Then shall they deliver you up to be afflicted, and shall kill you: and ye shall be hated of all nations for My name's sake. And then shall many be offended, and shall betray one another, and shall hate one another..."

Luke 21:12-17 - "But before all these, they shall lay their hands on you, and persecute you, delivering you up to the synagogues, and into prisons, being brought before kings and rulers for My name's sake. And it shall turn to you for a testimony.
Settle it therefore in your hearts, not to meditate before what ye shall answer: For I will give you a mouth and wisdom, which all your adversaries shall not be able to gainsay nor resist. And ye shall be betrayed both by parents, and brethren, and kinsfolks, and friends; and some of you shall they cause to be put to death. And ye shall be hated of all people for My name's sake."

John 16:2-3 - "They shall put you out of the synagogues: yea, the time cometh, that whosoever killeth you will think that he doeth God service. And these things will they do because they have not known the Father, nor Me."

Revelation 6:9-11 - "And when He had opened the fifth seal, I saw under the altar the souls of them that were slain for the word of God, and for the testimony which they held: And they cried with a loud voice, saying, How long, O Lord, holy and true, dost Thou not judge and avenge our blood on them that dwell on the earth? And white robes were given unto every one of them; and it was said unto them, that they should rest yet for a little season, until their fellowservants also and their brethren, that should be killed as they [were], should be fulfilled.

Revelation 11:7 - "And when [the two witnesses] shall have finished their testimony, the beast that ascendeth out of the bottomless pit shall make war against them, and shall overcome them, and kill them."

Revelation 12:17  - "And the dragon was wroth with the woman, and went to make war with the remnant of her seed, which keep the commandments of God, and have the testimony of Yahshua:"

Revelation 13:6-7 - "And he opened his mouth in blasphemy against God, to blaspheme His name, and His tabernacle, and them that dwell in heaven. And it was given unto him to make war with the saints, and to overcome them: and power was given him over all kindreds, and tongues, and nations."

If you have supposedly 'put your hand to the plow' yet expect not having to "resist unto blood" (Heb. 12:4), hoping to escape persecution and perhaps death when the righteous before this generation - INCLUDING YAHSHUA - did not, expecting to be 'raptured' away rather than remaining as a witness and a faithful servant to the end, then you are not fit for the Kingdom of God.

"And He shall say, I tell you, I know you not whence ye are; depart from Me, all ye workers of iniquity."
Luke 13:27

JUDGING GOD

How many of us have been in discussion with a friend or acquaintance, and heard the conversation go something like this:

"If homosexuals are born that way, how can God condemn them?"

"If it's wrong to kill people, then why does the Bible tell us to execute murderers?"

"Marriage is just a civil agreement between two people, so why does God say divorce is morally wrong?"

"If there is a God, why does He allow all the suffering in this world?"

"God in the Old Testament gives mercy to sinful men, and He's wrong to do that."

The examples could go on endlessly: people form their opinions about life and death, how to worship God, how to interact with their fellow man, etc., and then go on to criticize God because His rules and actions don't agree with their opinions. As time progresses and this world races toward its final meeting with our Creator, it seems that mankind is determined to deny, nullify, and condemn everything upon which the majority of people claim to base their faith. The question is: How much will God tolerate when mankind presumes to judge Him?

We find examples in Scripture of men and women disbelieving, disagreeing with, judging, and criticizing God and His emissaries. Even in the beginning, Adam and Eve chose to disbelieve and disobey Yahweh's warning concerning eating of tree which He commanded them to refrain from. We know the punishment for this was dire, as it condemned not only Adam and Eve, but the whole human race to toil, sorrow, and eventual physical death. In this example, we find a common theme for events in the rest of Scripture and in human reasoning: Although Yahweh clearly ordered Adam and Eve not to eat of this tree, explaining the punishment for disobedience, He did not enter into a detailed explanation of why this tree wasn't good to eat. When the serpent entered in and offered a plausible (human) motivation for God's actions, Adam and Eve accepted it as justification for disobeying their Creator. Rather than trusting Yahweh and accepting His commandment in this case, they chose instead to invoke their own flawed reasoning under Satan's urging in order to do what they wished to do all along.

If we examine many people's arguments against God, we often find among their motivations some personal agenda which will suffer if they accept God's rules. People who judge God's condemnation of homosexuals are usually associating with one or more people who cling to this lifestyle where it would inconvenience them to reject and condemn this lifestyle, perhaps costing them a relationship or even money. People who argue against God's condemnation of divorce are usually either divorced themselves or related to someone divorced. Those who bewail the suffering which "God allows" in this world are not only suffering themselves, but are almost certainly living their lives in total denial of His laws, statutes, and judgments: they hate the suffering, but they hate even more the restrictions they would have to submit to in order to ease their suffering. Opponents of the death penalty thrive on their self-righteous claim to love human life indiscriminately, but they reject the righteous concept of justice for those whose lives have been taken.

We see this pattern played out again and again in Scripture - people would rather justify themselves than justify God. If we look to the case of Job and his friends, we find this fact demonstrated very clearly. Throughout Job's discourse with his friends, he continually justifies himself, even to the point of saying, "Oh that One would hear me! behold, my desire [is that] the Almighty would answer me, and [that] mine adversary had written a book." (Job. 31:35) This man has sunk to the level of calling God his adversary! We know that this is true, because 32:1 tells us that the three friends stopped talking to him because Job "[was] righteous in his own eyes" - more righteous even than God!

Finally Elihu - literally, "He is God" - appears on the scene, tells Job, "Behold, I [am] according to thy wish in God's stead..." (33:6), and proceeds to harshly rebuke Job for his attitude and words. "Behold, [in] this thou art not just: I will answer thee, that God is greater than man." (33:12) Elihu goes on to say, "Yea, surely God will not do wickedly, neither will the Almighty pervert judgment," (34:12), and "Thinkest thou this to be right, [that] thou saidst, My righteousness [is] more than God's?" (35:2). Elihu cuts to the heart of the matter with these words: so many people believe that they know more than God, that their judgment is more righteous than God's, that their generosity and mercy are greater than God's, and that therefore God is somehow wicked and they are so very righteous. It is this attitude which is destroying our morals and our world today.

So many other examples exist in Scripture which demonstrate this attitude of rebellion and superiority: Sarah's laughter and disbelief as she hid behind the door listening to Yahweh assure Abraham that he and Sarah would be blessed with a son (Gen. 18:9-15); Abraham's false belief that he could save Sodom and Gomorrah where God could not, by lowering to ten the number of righteous souls to be found in those cities for their salvation (Gen 18:20-33); the rebellion and disbelief of the ten spies after they had searched out Canaan, and then the subsequent rebellion of all Israel as they disobeyed Yahweh's order and went up into the land without His blessing (Num. 13 & 14); the presumption of the sons of Korah, who proclaimed their own holiness in defiance of Yahweh's selection of Moses and Aaron as His agents (Num. 16); Saul's disobedience of Yahweh's orders to utterly defeat the Amalekites and refuse their spoil (I Sam. 15:1-26); the self-righteousness and multiple offenses of those who condemned Yahshua for healing a man on the Sabbath (Matt. 12:10-14; Mark 3:1-6; etc.); the list could go on and on.

In searching these examples, we find different levels of punishment for these transgressions - in Sarah's case, there was a simple rebuke; in Abraham's case Yahweh withheld rebuke and even allowed some bargaining to go on; with the Israelites and the sons of Korah, death was the penalty exacted; and with Saul there was the loss of his position as king of Israel. From each context it becomes clear that while Yahweh will countenance mistakes and false assumptions when they spring from an underlying foundation of faith and obedience, He will not tolerate rebellion and disobedience when their motivation is disbelief and self-aggrandizement.

If this is true, then our world is positioned to encounter the very harshest punishment possible upon Yahshua's return: we wantonly criticize God's rules, statutes, judgment, laws, and commands because they encroach on our desires; we exalt ourselves over God by claiming our greater justice, understanding, righteousness, or mercy; we condemn the principles dictated by Him as too rigorous, too fanatical, too fundamentalist, too extreme - or most paradoxically, TOO MERCIFUL! - while substituting nothing besides "do what feels right" to guide ourselves through life; we ignore His rules and then cry because He refuses to intervene and save us from ourselves, thereby allowing our actions to cause all of the suffering that disturbs us so; we tolerate every deviant behaviour possible, making excuses for this behaviour and condemning God for setting standards for deviance in the first place; we refuse His mercy because of the requirements that would ensue if we accepted - then we complain that God is ignoring us. Worst of all, some complain that our Creator is too merciful to sinners, driven by their own sense of righteousness and thereby assuming the mantle of sinlessness that only Yahshua is worthy of:  this is perhaps the most blasphemous position of all.  All of this springs from hearts hardened into cement by selfishness, cruelty, childish egoism, and simple rebellion against God's authority.

Scripture tells us clearly what happens when we reject or bypass God and do what is right in our own eyes: if we read the book of Judges, we see a nation falling into moral destruction and terminal sinfulness and reaping the consequences of such a culture. Even when God intervenes and sends a judge/saviour, after several have come and gone we begin to realize that the people are reprieved only as long as any one judge is in place: once the judge departs, the people are incapable of continuing on their own and immediately fall back into the moral quagmire they've created for themselves.

Judging God is more than risky business - it can be a deadly business. Job's example tells us that we can escape from this error only by self-examination and heartfelt repentance, something this world is in dire need of. When we read prophecy which tells us of the coming judgment and punishment of mankind, we can know for sure that what is bringing this judgment upon us is our blind willingness to judge and condemn the One who created us and this world in the first place. Now is the time to stop judging God, and exalt Him instead: only when we first justify our Creator can we then justify ourselves before Him and perhaps save ourselves from the punishment to come.

"Wilt thou also disannul My judgment? wilt thou condemn Me, that thou mayest be righteous?"

(Job 40:8)

"I Have Not Sent These Prophets, Yet They Ran..."

"I have heard what the prophets said, that prophesy lies in My name, saying, I have dreamed, I have dreamed.  How long shall [this] be in the heart of the prophets that prophesy lies? yea, [they are] prophets of the deceit of their own heart;  which think to cause My people to forget My name by their dreams which they tell every man to his neighbour, as their fathers have forgotten My name for Baal.  The prophet that hath a dream, let him tell a dream; and he that hath My word, let him speak My word faithfully. What [is] the chaff to the wheat? saith Yahweh.  [Is] not My word like as a fire? saith Yahweh; and like a hammer [that] breaketh the rock in pieces?  Therefore, behold, I [am] against the prophets, saith Yahweh, that steal My words every one from his neighbour.  Behold, I [am] against the prophets, saith Yahweh, that use their tongues, and say, He saith.  Behold, I [am] against them that prophesy false dreams, saith Yahweh, and do tell them, and cause My people to err by their lies, and by their lightness; yet I sent them not, nor commanded them: therefore they shall not profit this people at all, saith Yahweh."

Jeremiah 23:25-32

This is a word of warning to all who are seeking answers, searching for guidance as the world appears to be falling apart around us, asking where to place their faith - who and what should they believe in, where is their protection? This word is not only for the seekers, but also for those who claim to have had a dream, a vision, a "message from the Holy Spirit", a strong feeling about something which they feel compelled to share as they tell us where to find salvation in these dark times.  This warning has not only something to do with the message or dream being conveyed, but everything to do with the name and doctrine in which these things are being proclaimed. The word is "Beware."

Yahweh warns us repeatedly in the Old Testament of false prophets and priests, whom He never sent, claiming to speak His words and teach in His name while actually speaking falsehoods and teaching apostasy.  The following verses are only a few of the multiple Scriptures which address this subject:

Isaiah 56:10-11 - "His watchmen [are] blind: they are all ignorant, they [are] all dumb dogs, they cannot bark; sleeping, lying down, loving to slumber.  Yea, [they are] greedy dogs [which] can never have enough, and they [are] shepherds [that] cannot understand: they all look to their own way, every one for his gain, from his quarter."

Jeremiah 5:30-31 - "A wonderful and horrible thing is committed in the land;  The prophets prophesy falsely, and the priests bear rule by their means; and My people love [to have it] so: and what will ye do in the end thereof?"

Jeremiah 14:14-16 - "Then Yahweh said unto me, The prophets prophesy lies in My name: I sent them not, neither have I commanded them, neither spake unto them: they prophesy unto you a false vision and divination, and a thing of nought, and the deceit of their heart.  Therefore thus saith Yahweh concerning the prophets that prophesy in My name, and I sent them not, yet they say, Sword and famine shall not be in this land; By sword and famine shall those prophets be consumed.  And the people to whom they prophesy shall be cast out in the streets of Jerusalem because of the famine and the sword; and they shall have none to bury them, them, their wives, nor their sons, nor their daughters: for I will pour their wickedness upon them."

Jeremiah 23:16, 21-22 - "Thus saith Yahweh of hosts, Hearken not unto the words of the prophets that prophesy unto you: they make you vain: they speak a vision of their own heart, [and] not out of the mouth of Yahweh...I have not sent these prophets, yet they ran: I have not spoken to them, yet they prophesied. But if they had stood in My counsel, and had caused My people to hear My words, then they should have turned them from their evil way, and from the evil of their doings."

Lamentations 2:14 - "Thy prophets have seen vain and foolish things for thee: and they have not discovered thine iniquity, to turn away thy captivity; but have seen for thee false burdens and causes of banishment."

Ezekiel 22:28 - "...her prophets have daubed them with untempered [morter], seeing vanity, and divining lies unto them, saying, Thus saith the Lord Yahweh, when Yahweh hath not spoken."

God clearly hates a lying prophet speaking false words meant to deceive the people rather than turn them to Him, and the New Testament also warns against false prophets and their deceit:

Matthew 24:11-12, 24 - "And many false prophets shall rise, and shall deceive many. And because iniquity shall abound, the love of many shall wax cold...For there shall arise false Christs, and false prophets, and shall shew great signs and wonders; insomuch that, if [it were] possible, they shall deceive the very elect."

2 Thess. 2:7-11  - "For the mystery of iniquity doth already work: only [there is] one who holds fast, until he be taken out of the way.  And then shall that Wicked be revealed, whom the Lord shall consume with the spirit of His mouth, and shall destroy with the brightness of His coming[Even him], whose coming is after the working of Satan with all power and signs and lying wonders, and with all deceivableness of unrighteousness in them that perish; because they received not the love of the truth, that they might be saved.  And for this cause God shall send them strong delusion, that they should believe a lie..."

Rev. 19:20  - "And the beast was taken, and with him the false prophet that wrought miracles before him, with which he deceived them that had received the mark of the beast, and them that worshipped his image. These both were cast alive into a lake of fire burning with brimstone."

There are many people these days offering us their messages about the destruction to come: global catastrophes, national economic collapse, pandemic disease, war, famine, martial law, the mark of the beast, the end of the world, the tribulation spoken of Matthew 24:21 - "...great tribulation, such as was not since the beginning of the world to this time, no, nor ever shall be", all of it with their own particular twists and interpretations according to current events. So much of this information is true at face value, because it is lifted directly from Scripture itself - so where is the deception, how are they lying, what should you beware?

The answer is simple and clear:  Beware those people who are claiming to speak a word or message from the Father, Yahshua, or the Holy Spirit when their message draws you away from God's truth rather than to it - this is deception and the spirit of the Anti-Christ.  How to recognize the deception?  If these people bring you a message that contradicts Scripture, Old Testament or New, they are false prophets.  If these people offer you salvation in any name other than Yahshua our Messiah, they are deceivers.  If they call you to a doctrine that rejects Yahweh's laws and commandments, they are drawing you destruction.  If their doctrine includes rejection of the 7th day as Sabbath and acceptance of any other day in substitution, they are liars seeking to destroy your soul, whether they know it or not.  At best, they are blind teachers leading lost sheep into a pit of destruction.  At worst, they are

"...false apostles, deceitful workers, transforming themselves into apostles of the Christ.  And no marvel; for Satan himself is transformed into an angel of light.  Therefore [it is] no great thing if his ministers also be transformed as the ministers of righteousness; whose end shall be according to their works."
2 Corinthians 11:13-15

Revelation 12:9 tells us that the entire world will be suffering a great deception at the end of this age brought to them by Satan and his messengers.  This deception causes them to reject Yahshua, His name, His laws, and His commandments, and it is successful because "they received not the love of the truth" spoken of in 2 Thessalonians.  Satan's war is waged against the SAINTS, those "which keep the commandments of God, and have the testimony of Yahshua..." The seal of God in Revelation, the patience of the saints, is that these are "they that keep the commandments of God, and the faith of Yahshua."

The plain truth is that if you glorify the name Jesus you are glorifying a false name.  If you worship on Sunday, keep christmas and easter or any other religious observance besides those commanded by Yahweh, you are embracing false doctrine and apostasy.  If you reject God's laws and commandments in favor of doing what is right in your own eyes under the guise of "freedom from the law", you are a disobedient child, rebelling against the Yahshua and Father Himself. If you believe the name of God in the Old Testament is "the LORD" or Jehovah, you are blind and deceived.  If you claim to be a prophet or messenger of God, yet sent in the name of  Jesus, you are a liar and a deceiver.  If you hate the truth you are reading right now and prefer the lawlessness and rejection of Yahshua's name and the Father's commandments as taught today by virtually every church in the world, then prepare for the punishment to come, as it surely will.

If however, you are truly seeking God and salvation, then begin in prayer.  Try every spirit, test every message that comes to you against Scripture alone.  Learn about God's Sabbath, Yahshua's name, His Holy Days and observances, the truth available in Scripture if you will only search it out.  Prove all things, be willing to accept what is true despite its unfamiliarity.  Repent and turn to God's truth, not the familiar, lying doctrines of man.  Seek out, then hold fast to what is true - the commandments of God and the testimony of Yahshua - and you will have the weapons to recognize and fight deception, now and in the tribulation to come.

"Then they that feared Yahweh spake often one to another: and Yahweh hearkened, and heard [it], and a book of remembrance was written before Him for them that feared Yahweh, and that thought upon His name.

"And they shall be Mine, saith Yahweh of hosts, in that day when I make up My jewels; and I will spare them, as a man spareth his own son that serveth him.

"Then shall ye return, and discern between the righteous and the wicked, between him that serveth God and him that serveth Him not."

Malachi 3:16-18

WHAT DOES IT MATTER?

Is there really a God? If there is, does it really matter what we do or say in our worship of Him? What does it matter what we do in this life, as long as we try to be good people? Does it matter if we break God's laws...or do we have to follow any laws at all? If there is no God, what does it matter?

There is an attitude flooding this world that gives rise to the questions above. It seeks to appear righteous, Godly, and/or good while denying everything our Creator has taught us about these things. It denies the existence of God, then steals and warps His words in order to justify a self-serving concept of right and wrong. For anyone who has asked these questions and wondered whether anything really matters where God is concerned, here is the truth:

"If there is no God, we have no hope."

If there is no God, then life in this world is all we have to look forward to. This should be a sobering, wretched realization for anyone who chooses to believe that there is no God: it means that we are doomed to exist only in this degenerate world, enduring and inflicting all the wrongs of everyday life, and then our lives are over. Permanently, for ever. There is no more hope, no chance of redemption or forgiveness to be given or accepted, no possibility of change or growth into something new or better, no real reason for our existence at all. If in this life we have only the goal of living our fourscore and ten years until we die, then we above all other creatures are to be pitied our existence.

If there is no God, then it really doesn't matter what we do - whether for good or evil - in this life, because there are no ultimate consequences or rewards for our actions. If there is no God, then we really have no guidance on how to live what is generally considered to be a "good life" except the consensus of our fellow beings, because the Bible is a total fabrication of lies, not worth the paper wasted to print it. If there is no God, then our actions are only governed by expediency and our moral standards subject to change upon a whim, as long as the whim makes us feel good about ourselves.

If there is no God, then this life is only a prelude to death, and our every action is only a step towards our goal of the grave, regardless of what those actions might be. We may live lives doing what we believe to be good works - with only our feelings to tell us what is "good" - but in the end we die and those "good works" are as if they had never existed.

Alternately, we may spend our lives on evil - whatever we perceive evil to be without the benefit of God's laws to define it for us - perhaps even escaping the civil penalties of our evil, and when we die those evil deeds die with us: no justice meted, no need to ask for or accept forgiveness, no ultimate responsibility. Nothing but the oblivion from which we sprang.

If there is no God, then we are born to eat, drink, breathe, excrete, have sex, and die. Everything else is just meaningless details. If there is no God, we have no hope.

However, if there is a God, then things change and change drastically. In place of an ever-changing morality guided by expediency and good feelings, we have a set of rules and standards which can not only guide us and give us an objective goal of goodness to strive for, they can also serve as a tool to bring us closer to our Creator, helping us to understand His mind and His plans for mankind in general. In addition, we have clear definitions of what is "evil", how to avoid it, and what we can do to mitigate our evil actions - how to overcome evil and erase what evil we might do in order to continue striving for the good. With a living God we have something to hope for beyond this physical life and its actions: we can hope to become better and wiser beings as we learn the lessons in this life that we will need to move on to the next existence after death. We have the hope of a subsequent, greater existence; and death becomes simply a step in our Creator's plan for us: it become not an end, but a new beginning.

If there is a God, then we must accept that human beings do not make the rules we are to live by and that there are consequences for our actions when we go against the rules set out for us by our Creator. We must accept that there are absolutes of right and wrong given to us by that living God, and the fact that we might disagree with them does not negate them. With a living God we must accept and abide by His rules in order to receive the rewards He offers: we cannot override God and receive greater rewards by accepting and condoning in the name of "christianity" or "forgiveness" or "righteousness" behaviour He has clearly marked as evil. In doing so, we partake of the very sins we are attempting to marginalize in others.

If there is a God, then we must also accept that human beings are held accountable for the sins they commit - sins as defined by God, not man - just as they are rewarded for the righteousness they do, and this righteousness is defined by God as well. It may make people feel good to march in a gay pride parade or picket during the execution of a murderer or rapist in the name of religion, but if there is a God then one thing is certain: Our Father does not condone these things, and He will require it in the end as evil committed, not good. To claim to believe that there is a God, and then to disregard the laws that He gave us in order to justify living an un-Godly lifestyle is direct disobedience to His will and is the most widespread and greatest religious hypocrisy this world has ever witnessed.

What does it matter? It matters very much if you hope that your life will mean something more than the life of any other animal that has ever existed in this world, for if there is no God then that is exactly what we are: animals - born to live, struggle, and then die, leaving nothing behind but a rotting carcase. The only hope we have is that there is a God, righteous, just, merciful, loving, and forgiving, who has created our lives and provided us with His laws for a purpose; a God who sent us His Son to give us a way past death, relegating death to the transition it is meant to be; a God who intends mankind follow His laws and benefit from this physical existence in order to gain something greater, more meaningful, and more lasting after we die. If there is a God, everything matters.

"If in this life only we have hope in the Christ, we are of all people most miserable.
But now is the Messiah risen from the dead, the firstfruits of them that slept...
O death, where [is] thy sting? O death, where [is] thy victory?
The sting of death [is] sin; and the strength of sin [is] the law.
But thanks [be] to God, Which giveth us the victory through our Lord Yahshua the Christ."

THE WORD OF THE WATCHMAN

"...Go, get thee unto the house of Israel, and speak with My words to them. For thou art not sent to a people of a strange speech and of an hard language, but to the house of Israel; Not to many people of a strange speech and of an hard language, whose words thou canst not understand. Surely, had I sent thee to them, they would have hearkened unto thee.

"And go, get thee to them of the captivity, unto the children of thy people, and speak unto them, and tell them, 'Thus saith the Lord Yahweh'; whether they hear or whether they will forbear.

"Son of man, I have made thee a watchman unto the house of Israel: therefore hear the word at My mouth, and give them warning from Me." (Eze. 3:4-6, 11, 17)

This is the word of the watchman:

Awake, awake! The day of Yahweh is fast approaching. This day is a day of furious anger, a day of trouble and distress, a day of storm and desolation, a day of darkness and gloominess, a day of clouds and thick darkness. It is a day of the trumpet and alarm against the defended cities, and against the high towers. And I, Yahweh, will bring distress upon men, that they shall walk like blind men, because they have sinned against Yahweh; and their blood shall be poured out as dust, and their flesh as excrement. Neither their lesser nor their greater idols shall be able to save them in the day of Yahweh's furious anger; but the whole land shall be eaten up by the fire of His jealousy; for He shall make even a speedy riddance of all them that dwell in the land.

Awake, all who read these words! The day of our God's judgment is at hand. Look around you at the world you live in. Look at your city, your state, your country, your government - look at your neighbors and close friends. Look at the newspapers and television. Open your eyes to the sin and corruption running rampant in the world today. See how mankind has transgressed against God's commandments and brought judgment upon themselves.

The watchman's task is to tell God's people and the world their sins, so that they might recognize their doom and turn from it. Look at everything occurring in the world today. Homosexuals brazenly and stridently petition to partake of the God-given ceremony of marriage even as they defy His condemnation of homosexuality. Mothers and fathers murder their children in their own beds. Religious leaders shamelessly give their support and sanction to murderers, child molesters, active homosexuals, bigots, and racist causes. Millions around the world proclaim their belief in God while existing in a state of abysmal ignorance of even the simplest of His laws. Adultery and fornication are more common than marriage, and one half of all marriages end in divorce. Helpless prisoners are tortured in the name of democracy. Murders walk free in the streets with innocent blood on their hands.

The world around us is filled with corruption and sin - a single glance at any news source reveals the evils of this generation. Governments attack and murder their own citizens. Around the world people are abused and murdered in the name of Jesus, Allah, Mother Earth, Satan, and every other deity imaginable. Drug use soars and addicts prey on family and friends in order to support their habits. Government officials, law enforcement agencies, and courts of law unite to oppress and enslave citizens through intimidation and unjust application of unrighteous laws. In the name of anti-terrorism, human rights and freedoms are trampled on and destroyed. Every form of paganism and idolatry is encouraged while unwavering devotion to God's truth is labeled dangerous fanaticism. No matter where we look, sin abounds.

Throughout the Old Testament Yahweh's laws were clearly stated. Our Creator God gave us His laws, statutes, and judgments, and then, amazingly, He was gracious enough to reveal the just reasoning behind many of those laws. With the most righteous laws ever to exist given into our hands, along with the reasoning behind those laws, mankind has gone on to twist and ignore those laws in favor of their own will. Christianity and Judaism in particular have done exactly what God warned against - in an effort to show how much more righteous they are than their Creator, they have supplanted His laws with their own traditions. How often has this resulted in those "righteous" people doing exactly what God commanded them not to do: they have wrested justice, calling that which is right wrong and that which is wrong right, and they have tolerated and even encouraged behaviour which is clearly condemned by God.

Everywhere we look today we find predictions of the end of the world or the end of the human race or the end of civilization as we know it. These predictions hang on a multitude of causes: global warming, political unrest, asteroids from outer space, terrorism, a coming ice age, nuclear holocaust - the list goes on and on. When we examine all of these causes, however, we discover one glaring fact: All of these predicted catastrophes arise from natural events due to either human mismanagement of natural resources or an evolutionary cycle of balance and imbalance; or they arise from socio-political conflict between different countries, governments, or religions. Every one of these predictions totally ignores God and the disregard of His laws as a cause of the coming cataclysm.

Even more distressing is the fact that in each of these scenarios, we find one of two outcomes: either mankind - completely apart from God - saves itself through its own determination and ingenuity; or mankind is simply extinguished, falling prey to the evolutionary cycle in favor of a more hardy species: plants, reptiles, microbes, etc. Nowhere do we find the concept of God interposing Himself in these events, stepping in as the one and only salvation of His created offspring.

Look to Scripture to find the truth of the cause of this world's destruction: "Why criest thou for thine affliction? Thy sorrow is incurable for the multitude of thine iniquity: because thy sins were increased, I have done these things unto thee" (Jer. 30:15). "Also, thou son of man, thus saith the Lord Yahweh unto the land of Israel; An end is come upon the four corners of the land. Now is the end come upon thee, and I will send Mine anger upon thee, and will judge thee according to thy ways, and will recompense upon thee all thine abominations. And Mine eye shall not spare thee, neither will I have pity: but I will recompense thy ways upon thee, and thine abominations shall be in the midst of thee: and ye shall know that I AM Yahweh" (Eze. 7:2-4). "Ye have plowed wickedness, ye have reaped iniquity; ye have eaten the fruit of lies: because thou didst trust in thy way...therefore shall a tumult arise among thy people, and all thy fortresses shall be spoiled..." (Hos. 10:13-14).

And even as we know that God Himself is the cause of the coming destruction, we know also that He is our only hope of salvation from that destruction. "And I will shew wonders in the heavens and in the earth, blood, and fire, and pillars of smoke. The sun shall be turned to darkness, and the moon into blood, before the great and the terrible day of Yahweh come. And it shall come to pass, that whosoever shall call on the name of Yahweh shall be delivered: for in mount Zion and in Jerusalem shall be deliverance, as Yahweh hath said, and in the remnant whom Yahweh shall call" (Joel 2:30-32). "...Hurt not the earth, neither the sea, nor the trees, till we have sealed the servants of our God in their foreheads" (Rev. 7:3). "And Yahweh shall be seen over them, and His arrow shall go forth as the lightning...Yahweh of Hosts shall defend them: and they shall devour, and subdue with sling stones...And Yahweh their God shall save them in that day as the flock of His people...How great is His goodness, and how great is His beauty!" (Zech. 9:14-17)

Wake up, my beloved brothers! The time is now for people everywhere to understand some basic truths, the most primary of which is this: Throughout history, God has intervened in human events for two reasons. The first reason God intervenes is because of the sinfulness of mankind: "And God saw that the wickedness of man was great in the earth, and that every imagination of the thoughts of his heart was only evil continually. And it repented Yahweh that He had made man on the earth, and it grieved Him at His heart. And Yahweh said, 'I will destroy man whom I have created from the face of the earth...'" (Gen. 6:5-7), and "But in the fourth generation they shall come hither again: for the iniquity of the Amorites is not yet full" (Gen 15:16), and "And Yahweh said, 'Because the cry of Sodom and Gomorrah is great, and because their sin is very grievous; I will go down now, and see whether they have done according to the cry of it, which is come unto Me...'" (Gen. 18:20-21), and "But they rebelled, and vexed His holy Spirit: therefore He was turned to be their enemy, and He fought against them" (Is. 63:10). We see very clearly that our God intervenes, even to the point of becoming an enemy of mankind, when the their sins become unbearable to Him.

The second reason we find our Creator intervening for is to prevent the total extermination of mankind: "Thus saith Yahweh, 'As the new wine is found in the cluster, and one saith, 'Destroy it not; for a blessing is in it;' so will I do for My servants sakes, that I may not destroy them all'" (Is 65:8), and "Fear thou not, O Jacob my servant, saith Yahweh: for I am with thee; for I will make a full end of all the nations whither I have driven thee: but I will not make a full end of thee..." (Jer. 46:28), and "For then shall be great tribulation, such as was not since the beginning of the world to this time, no, or ever shall be. And except those days be shortened, there should no flesh be saved; but for the elect's sake those days shall be shortened" (Matt. 24:21-22). We see here that no matter what the transgressions of mankind in general, our God will always intervene in order to save those people who cleave unto Him and His truth.

The word of the watchman is clear: Awake, you sons of man, from your transgressions against God's laws, in order that you might receive the blessings of His mercy in the days of His judgment. The end of this world comes not because of random natural disaster or because of mankind has brought itself to the brink of destruction. The end of this world comes because mankind has transgressed the laws of our Creator God: our hope lies not in the indomitable spirit of mankind, but in the gracious Spirit of our Father who will shorten the days of our tribulation in order that a remnant of His people might survive.

"Seek ye Yahweh, all ye meek of the earth, which have wrought His judgment; seek righteousness, seek meekness: it may be ye shall be hid in the day of Yahweh's anger." (Zeph. 2:3)

A Memorial of Our Loved Ones

In past years many of us in Yahshua's family have lost family members and friends, and in many cases these losses have only added to similar losses we've already sustained. In addition, some of us have been left alone and without any way to truly mourn or honor those we loved so well. In an effort to address this situation, provide a means to honor our beloved dead, and perhaps ease the pain of our losses, the House of Yahshua has created this memorial section, which will be be added to and preserved indefinitely. We remember here the family and friends no longer with us, honoring their memories and celebrating their lives:

"The righteous perisheth, and no man layeth [it] to heart: and merciful men [are] taken away, none considering that the righteous is taken away from the evil [to come]. He shall enter into peace: they shall rest in their beds, [each one] walking [in] his uprightness." (Isa. 57:1-2)

Never Forgotten

THE TRUTH IS...

In John 18:38, Pontius Pilate asked Yahshua, "What is truth?" Earlier Yahshua Himself said, "Thy word is truth" (John 17:17). Unbeliever that he was, Pilate couldn't know that he was speaking to the Word of God made flesh (John 1:14) when he asked that question - in effect, Pilate was speaking to the embodiment of truth, a fact which escaped him.

In addition to the fleshly Word, who was available to the world for only about 33 1/2 years, we have the enduring word of Scripture - a spiritual testimony breathed by God Himself in order for us to learn about Him, His will for us, and how to live our lives in a manner pleasing to Him. Authorities say that the Bible is the book most widely purchased and most seldom read. Even among those who read and study this Book faithfully, there are points of truth and facts contained in it which may have escaped them. A few of those points, and some practical observations and Scriptural facts, are offered here.

The seventh day Sabbath was instituted in Genesis 2:2-3 by the fiat of God, with no mention of any relationship to the sun, moon, or any other physical phenomenon or point of reference. This God-given seven day cycle is reinforced in Exodus 20:8-11, again with no mention of any point of reference besides Yahweh's six days of creation and one day of rest. Again, it is reinforced in Exodus 31:14-17 only with reference to the Creation week; likewise in Hebrews 4:4. Our Creator is the only point of reference for His sanctified Sabbath, not any heavenly body or any other part of His creation.

Homosexuality is rebellion against two of the earliest ordinances concerning mankind and marriage:

The first is "Be fruitful, and multiply, and replenish the earth..." (Gen. 1:28). Ironically, homosexuals, by the very nature of their chosen lifestyle and in spite of their rejection of Yahweh's laws, cannot reproduce without using methods that force them to submit themselves to the laws of nature which God created, thereby submitting them to God Himself.

The second is "Therefore a man shall leave his father and his mother, and shall cleave unto his wife..." There is no provision here for a man cleaving unto his boyfriend.

In Numbers 3:28, the males of Kohath are numbered at 8,300 - which when added to the other Levite males yields 22,300 rather than the 22,000 recorded in verse 39. According to Wycliffe's Bible Commentary, this is due to a scribal error, where one letter was omitted: sh-sh (six hundred) written instead of sh-l-sh (three hundred).

While many people claim that Eliyah was caught up by a whirlwind to God's throne in heaven, "translated" and never seeing death, this is impossible. Besides the clear Scriptural testimony that "no man has ascended to heaven, except He that came down from heaven", there is the simple fact that Eliyah wrote a letter to King Jehoram (II Chron 21:12) somewhere between five and ten years after his disappearance, a letter we can safely presume was sent from somewhere on earth and not from Paradise.

In the Old Testament, all offerings presented to Yahweh were to be unleavened - Lev. 2:11 - however, the two wave loaves offered at Pentecost (Lev. 23:17) were offered with leaven. Leaven is the classic Scriptural symbol for sin, which explains why Yahweh's offerings were to be leaven-free, but the wave loaves were offered with leaven because they represent the firstfruits redeemed from among mankind (Acts 2:41, etc). Mankind, being fleshly or "carnal", is weak and naturally at odds with God (Rom. 8:7), co-existing with sin in spite of our best efforts (Rom. 7:17-19). It is only through our spiritual redemption and conversion through Yahshua that we present ourselves to God in spite of the "body of death" (Rom. 7:24-25) in which we exist: hence, the symbolism of the wave loaves - a type of firstfruit acceptable to God in spite of being leavened.

In Revelation 17, the "great whore" of verse one is identified in verse 18 as that "great city" - a term used to identify Jerusalem in ch. 11:8: "And their dead bodies [shall lie] in the street of the great city, which spiritually is called Sodom and Egypt, where also our Lord was crucified", as well as in ch. 21:10 - "And he carried me away in the spirit to a great and high mountain, and shewed me that great city, the holy Jerusalem..."

If we follow the trail of references from Exodus 12:12 to Exodus 12:27 to Exodus 13:2 and 11-15 to Numbers 3:12-13; we find that Yahweh redeemed the deaths of the firstborn of Egypt by claiming for Himself the firstborn of Israel, whom He subsequently traded for the tribe of Levi. If we understand that the Passover lamb was slain - not as a sin sacrifice, but in order to save the lives of the firstborn of Israel - we then see that Passover was the beginning of a process by which Yahweh purchased to Himself a physical priesthood from His chosen physical nation. In like manner, when Yahshua instituted the New Covenant at Passover in the New Testament, He set in motion a process by which He began to create for Himself a new priesthood, this time spiritual (1 Peter 1:5, 9), from all those He has chosen out of the world to become His spiritual people.

The name "Yahweh" appears from Genesis 2:4 through Genesis 39:23 some 158 times, an average of more than 4 occurrences per chapter in 38 chapters. The name appears only once in the remaining eleven chapters from Genesis 40:1 through Genesis 50:26, in Genesis 49:18 - where it is spoken by Jacob. The next occurrence of the name Yahweh is three chapters into the next book, in Exodus 3:2. The first time that name is uttered by a human being in Exodus is in Ex. 4:1, where it is spoken by Moses, over 400 years after Gen. 49:18.

The "Old Covenant" - the covenant made with the children of Israel, mediated by Moses at Mount Sinai in Exodus 19:24 thru 24:8, and sealed with blood - had nothing to do with the "Levitical law" or "Levitical priesthood". A careful reading of this covenant will show no mention of the Levites or many of the laws commonly perceived as Levitical laws - i.e. ritual washings, specific sacrificial laws, purification rules, etc. The Sinai covenant was made in the third month after the exodus (Ex. 19:1), while the tribe of Levi was first formally spoken of as separated for service to Yahweh in Numbers 1:49-53 on or after the first day of the second month in the second year after the exodus (Num. 1:1) - well after the Sinai covenant was instituted. (Even the early reference in Exodus 38:21 is a forward looking reference to the passage in Numbers.) In truth, the Old Covenant was as personal and non-ritualistic as was Yahweh's first covenant with Abraham, which was made with him before the ritual of circumcision was introduced (Rom. 4:9-10), and was just as personal as the New Covenant is now.

The word rendered "wormwood" in Rev. 8:11 is the Greek word "apsinthos", the equivalent of "absinthe" in English. Derived from the plant Artemesia absinthium, wormwood liqueur (absinthe) is a bitter, emerald green, addictive drug. Absinthe has been outlawed in many countries due to the fact that it is hallucinogenic and toxic.

The Hebrew word for atonement, as in the Day of Atonement, is kippur - Strong's #3725 - meaning expiation. It comes from Strong's #3722, which reads "kaphar: a primitive root; to cover". With the understanding that blood is given to us for a covering (Lev. 17:11), we realize that our Saviour's blood was shed as a covering for the sins of His people in order to reconcile them to Himself. It is because of this covering that our Father, who cannot look upon evil (Hab. 1:13), is able to turn His face to us and regard us as we strive to obey His words and live according to His will.

The Levitical priesthood of the Old Testament consisted of the all the male descendants of Levi, who was one of the sons of Jacob (Gen. 29:34; Num. 3:12). This tribe became the priests who performed the sacrifices and services within the tabernacle and the temple. The "sons of Aaron" were the descendants of Aaron, who was a member of the tribe of Levi (Ex. 4:14): it is this family of Aaron that directly served Yahweh as the high priests of Israel, primarily because of the actions of Aaron's son Phinehas in Number 25. While all sons of Aaron were Levites, not all Levites were sons of Aaron, and the duties of each group were widely and specifically different. In Ezekiel it is the descendents of Phineas - the "sons of Zadok" (1 Chron. 6:4-12) - who continue the direct service to Yahweh (Ez. 44:15-16, 23-24; etc.), while the Levites fulfill the lesser functions of the priesthood (Eze. 44:10-14).

The primary passage in the Bible which supposedly supports the concept of a triune God - "For there are three that bear record in heaven, the Father, the Word, and the Holy Spirit; and these three are one. And there are three that bear witness in earth..." (I John 5:7-8) - never appeared in any Greek manuscripts before the 16th century. This passage first appeared as a marginal comment in some Latin manuscripts and later was added into the text.

The Feast of Trumpets is the only Holy Day that is already upon us by the time that we know for certain that it has begun. In keeping with the idea behind the day, we must therefore be prepared and watch for the new moon that signals the beginning of this Feast, lest we be taken unawares by its arrival.

The word translated "pale" in Rev. 6:8 is "chloros", which means "green".

Homosexuality is condemned both in the Old Testament (Lev. 18:22 & 20:13; Deut 23:17; II Ki. 23:7, etc.) and the New Testament (Rom. 1:26 & 27; I Cor. 6:9; I Tim. 1:10). Active homosexuality is rebellion against God's word; claiming to know and obey God's will while practicing such a lifestyle is rebellion against God Himself.

The Day of Atonement is an interactive event, with us suffering hunger pangs throughout the day and faithfully enduring as the day goes on, and our Father noting each pang, our faithful endurance, and the obedience to His will which leads us to keep the day in the first place.

The first occurrence of the proper name Yahweh occurs in Genesis 2:4 - the entire Creation Hymn is couched only in terms of the plural noun "elohim".

Lev. 20:13 - "If a man also lie with mankind, as he lieth with a woman, both of them have committed an abomination: they shall surely be put to death; their blood shall be upon them" - is perfectly mirrored in Rom. 1:26 & 27 - "For this cause God gave them up unto vile affections: for even their women did change the natural use into that which is against nature: and likewise also men, leaving the natural use of the woman, burned in their lust one toward another; men with men working that which is unseemly, and receiving in themselves that recompense of their error which was meet (appropriate)."

Yahshua cleared the Temple twice during His ministry: once at the beginning (John 2:11-17), and once at the end (Matt. 21:12-13; Mark 11:15-17; Luke 19:45-46).

Yahshua's definition of marriage is this: "...Have ye not read, that He which made them at the beginning made them male and female, and said, 'For this cause shall a man leave father and mother, and shall cleave to his wife: and they two shall become one flesh?'" (Matt. 19:4 & 5; Mark 10:6-8)

There are four women included in Yahshua's genealogy in Matthew: Thamar, Rachab, Ruth, and Bathsheba, though Bathsheba is not mentioned by name.

Our calling is not "eye for eye", "tooth for tooth", "stroke for stroke", or "life for life". Our existence as individuals and as a nation is not defined by our ability to take vengeance: Yahweh says, "To Me belongeth vengeance, and recompense." Rather, our calling and existence is defined by this: "But I say unto you, That ye resist not evil: but whosoever shall smite thee on thy right cheek, turn to him the other also...Give to him that asketh thee, and from him that would borrow of thee turn not thou away...Love your enemies, bless them that curse you, do good to them that hate you, and pray for them which despitefully use you and persecute you; That ye may be the sons of your Father which is in heaven."

In Rev. 6:5, the reference to "a pair of balances" comes from Strong's number 2218 - "zugos" - which is the same word translated as "yoke" in Matt. 11:29 & 30; Acts 15:10; Gal. 5:1; and 1 Tim. 6:1.

The word translated "martyr(s)" - Strong's #3144 - in Acts 22:20, Rev. 2:13, and Rev. 17:6 literally means "a witness" or "witnesses" (as in one witnessing an event and therefore able to testify to it), and is translated as such in the KJV everywhere else except 2 Cor. 1:23 and Phil. 1:8, where it is translated "record".

Although Yahshua pre-existed as God and was our Creator, it was absolutely imperative that He give up that existence as God and become a human being in order to offer salvation to mankind. Why? Because we know that our salvation is based on the shed blood of the Messiah (Eph. 2:13; Heb. 9:13-14; 1 Peter 1:18-20; 1 John 1:7; Rev. 1:5), and that only physical beings can shed blood. God is spirit (John 4:24), and a spirit being has no blood to shed. If Yahshua had remained God and not become flesh and blood, there would have been no blood worthy enough to shed for the salvation of mankind.

Think about it.

"Then they that feared Yahweh spake often one to another: and Yahweh hearkened, and heard [it], and a book of remembrance was written before Him for them that feared Yahweh, and that thought upon His name.

"And they shall be Mine, saith Yahweh of hosts, in that day when I make up My jewels; and I will spare them, as a man spareth his own son that serveth Him."

(Malachi 3:16-17)

In loving memory of Jeannine Touchton: mother, sister, wife, minister, and devoted son of God:

one of our Father's precious jewels.

I miss you more with every day that passes.
